With an understated gold lurex/jersey as the base material, and an extensively deconstructed length of glitter-lace, “Zlata” (Ukrainian for ‘Golden’) has been created to provide a subtle air of delicacy with the underpinned structural stability all masks require during wear. The lace has been stiffened with light coats of shellac, and stabilising wire framing has been attached to all outer edges.
Designed as a glittering glamour piece, “Zlata” has been heavily embellished with rhinestones in three shades of gold, pale lemon Swarovski elements, half pearl beading and chains of miniature rhinestones. A large lemon-toned rhinestone has been centrally set within a circle of pearl beading and further visual interest is provided with a reconstructed drape of vintage jewellery down one side.
“Zlata” is a one-off, exclusively catalogued work that comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
